The TRIT-network focuses its fundamental research to understand the survival and development of trypanosomatid parasites in their hosts and the mechanisms that the host is handling to tolerate or resist parasite infection. This consortium is financed by the Interuniversity Attraction Poles Program (IAP) of the Belgian Science Policy Office (Belspo) and consists of four Belgian partners (research groups from ULB-Université Libre de Bruxelles and the VUB - Vrije Universiteit Brussel as well as two research groups from ITG - Instituut voor Tropische Geneeskunde Antwerpen) and two International partners (from the LMUM - Ludwigs-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany and the IEM - Université d’Orléans, France). The different partners of the TRIT-network have a large and complementary expertise in parasite and host biology.
